Late September by the Susquehanna, Tara walked down the aisle to Pink Floyd and Shag moved his glasses as to not obstruct the tears. To say it was the quickest exchange of vows I have ever seen would be an absolute understatement. We will call it a kiss. It was sweet and it made me think a lot about the things that can be said without words. What can be offered in the way we show up to face the other. What we can see on each others faces and if we know that person well enough how much we can communicate through our eyes (and sometimes our lips) alone.
The potluck was a beautiful reminder of the way it feels to come together. The drinks were sweet and strong and the river offered us inspiration on how it feels to go with the flow. Tara and Shag said it was about the party and I actually hear that a lot. In this case, it felt very true. Bustle and Bump moved us well into the night and we remembered our roots among our oldest friends. I imagine it as a prelude to the joy, laughter, friendship, and resilience that is to come for these two.
May it last forever!
